Events
Over the years the Hussars have have generally done the virtual equivalent of turning up of an evening in the local pub to see who else is there and what they are drinking, but occasionally we organise ourselves to a specific purpose, gathering together online for various special events and competitions, some times on our own and sometimes in concert with other gaming clans.Sometimes these events are for a specific unique reason (such as the Mugsworth Memorial to commemorate the sad loss of two members of our community in a short space of time), but mostly they are just an excuse for a get-together. The main series of events have been listed below.

Big Scrums
Games: Battlefield 1942

The "Big Scrums" were conceived as a way of bringing together the various people and clans who were the regulars on the Battlefield 1942 community, using the server being hosted by Bigglesworth as the setting for a series of private matches. The 1st Hussars were seen as being a pivotal group in this regard, so the Big Scrums often pitted the 1st Hussars against one or more of the other clans within the community.
The Hussars generally don't participate as a clan in serious competitions, but this was perhaps as close as we came and the stakes were so high that we even came up with battle plans for these matches.

As a celebration of the formation of the clan, every year we have gathered together with whatever clan members we can rouse out of their comfy chairs for long enough to take part in an evening of mayhem. For many years the original Battlefield 1942 was the favoured venue, but as it began showing its age other more currently favoured games were chosen. In general, if the game contained vehicles and had large map areas, we would use it to have impromptu races, otherwise we would try and play games specifically aimed at having fun rather than just playing normally.
Hussars Cup Challenge

Keanriick and Rum were the masterminds behind what started off as a small racing series for a handful of hussars and over the years expanded into a major series of racing championships with multiple classes and participants from multiple clans including XDC, 7DR and Ninecraft. Keanrick took the mantle of final arbiter in races ("Bernie Ecclesmoke") and Rum was the creative mastermind behind some truly stunning vehicle skins. At its height the race resuylts were hosted on a separate web site but sadly most of that content has been lost.
Company of Hussars
Games: Company of Heroes

Company of Hussars: Operation Aubergine was an attempt to create a coherent campaign based around the RTS game Company of Heroes. The premise being that the Hussars would each choose a faction and doctrine within that faction, then move around a map based in France with their allies, fighting to take over the territory against AI opponents in a bid to reach Paris.
The battles were fun but occasionally frustrating as one mistake woudl result in the AI quickly overwhelming the players.
